Lindsay animal control is under the jurisdiction of the Lindsay Police Department. Animal control provides assistance with lost, stray, and vicious animals within the corporate city limits. Animals can be viewed by contacting the Lindsay Police Department.

City Licensing
All dogs and cats over four months of age must be vaccinated for rabies by a licensed veterinarian and licensed yearly through the City of Lindsay. Proof of yearly vaccinations and a rabies certificate must be provided for licensing.

Dog Limit
No more than two dogs over six months old shall be kept at or upon any premises used for residential purposes within the city or upon any lands within the city.

Every person who owns, possesses, or harbors any dog within the city shall confine the dog to premises owned or controlled by that person. Any dog upon any street or other public place must be under the control of a person by means of a chain or leash of sufficient strength and length to control the actions of the dog.

Animal Waste
Every owner, keeper, or person having control of any dog shall be responsible for the removal and proper disposal of any solid animal waste deposited by that dog upon any sidewalk, public street, alley, or other place open to the public or on any private property without consent.

Animals Not Allowed
It is unlawful for any person to keep within the city any horses, cattle, hogs, or other livestock; rabbits; or other fowl, except in connection with and during fairs, rodeos, shows, and similar occasions, or for veterinary medical purposes on a temporary basis.


It is unlawful for any person to willfully abuse, cruelly beat, injure, or neglect any animal or fowl within the city.
